Liverpool Daily Post writer honoured for his maritime excellence

In his response, Peter told the audience of 140 naval chiefs and guests at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London, of Liverpool’s maritime renaissance.

“Liverpool descended from being second city of the British Empire into a terrible state, but is finding a great new confidence by rediscovering its links with the sea.

“It is very exciting to be reporting on this renaissance. My thanks to my Daily Post bosses for their renewed commitment to this subject.

“The readers’ highly positive response to maritime stories and features is hugely rewarding.”

The awards were devised in 1995 by Anthony Harvey and Gillian Wettern, Desmond Wettern’s widow, for the Maritime Foundation’s promotion of British shipping.
