South Liverpool ceiling fall pensioner’s death was an accident

Medics sent her back to the care home at 5am the following morning with painkillers.

Although the inquest heard she had vomited and paramedics reported she was given the kiss of life and cardiac massage, her doctors did not give her a brain scan while she was in hospital.

Medic Dr Ulf Demnitz told the jury there were almost no outward signs of injury.

Senior consultant Dr Geoffrey Phillips, who oversaw an inquiry into her treatment, said the decision to send her back at 5am was “unwise”.

But he said: “The decision not to carry out a CT scan was correct.

“There was nothing in the clinical evidence to suggest she had serious head injuries.”

Mrs Potter’s family have not yet indicated if they will take legal action.
