PLAYERS from Tranmere Rovers have given their support to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
The players handed over a cheque for more than £1,300 to the Birkenhead branch from bucket collections.
Julie Dove, Poppy Appeal coordinator for Cheshire and Wirral, said: “This is a great start for the Poppy Appeal. The Tranmere Rovers fans are notoriously generous and always offer their unequivocal support for the appeal in aid of our troops who are fighting now in Afghanistan.
“They will need our support for many years to come and we can only offer our broad range of services to them if the Poppy Appeal remains as strong and successful as ever. To have such a terrific club to kick off our appeal is a great asset.”
Mick Horton, Chief Executive of Tranmere Rovers, said “We are delighted that Tranmere fans have given so generously.”
