Arrest number 13 in hunt for Liverpool police officer's homophobic attackers

A 17-YEAR-OLD was arrested last night in connection with a homophobic attack on an off-duty policeman.

PC James Parkes, 22, was attacked in Liverpool city centre last week by up to 20 thugs.

He had been enjoying a night out with friends in the city centre’s gay area when the mob assaulted him – inflicting multiple skull fractures and fracturing his cheekbone and eye socket.

The officer was released from hospital at the weekend.

Merseyside Police said 13 people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 17-year-old who was arrested last night was later released on bail after questioning.

The 12 others were all also bailed, pending further inquiries.
