Cheshire fund launched to support rural areas

CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is launching a £200,000 fund to support improvements in rural areas across the borough.

Local groups, charities and small organisations can apply for funding between £5,000 and £20,000 and any grant must be match-funded 50% from another source.

The grant programme will be administered by the Rural Agenda and Market Towns Team.

Cllr Stuart Parker is Chairman of the Regeneration Policy Development Board which will administer the scheme by reviewing applications for community projects within the rural areas

He said: “I am absolutely delighted that this initiative has been introduced. As a rural councillor myself, I fully understand the problems faced by rural villages.”
