The lobbying party will include Ed Oliver, chair of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, media entrepreneur Phil Redmond, long- time tram supporter and former Chamber chair David Wade Smith, and Downtown Liverpool in Business chair Frank McKenna.
They will ask Mr Khan to consider fresh funding proposals for the tram. Cllr Anderson told the Daily Post: “It is extremely timely that Sadiq Khan is in Liverpool this week to speak at the Core Cities Conference.
“This is a great opportunity to meet him and demonstrate the breadth of support that there is for this project.
“Business leaders understand precisely how important Merseytram could be for the economic future of the City Region. It is important that our desire to deliver this project is demonstrated if we are to move forward with a revised funding package.”
Cllr Round added: “I am delighted that so many of the region’s business leaders have come on board and are fully committed to supporting the revival of Merseytram.
“It’s important that we build on this momentum in coming weeks and mobilise all our energies.”
