Wayne and Coleen Rooney celebrate birth of baby Kai at Liverpool Women's Hospital

WAYNE ROONEY and his wife, Coleen, are celebrating the birth of a baby boy.

The Croxteth-born celebrity couple have named their first child Kai Wayne.

Coleen, 23, gave birth at 2.20pm yesterday at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Relatives from both sides of the family passed in and out of the hospital throughout the afternoon.

Rooney’s brother Graham arrived alongside his cousin Claire, a close friend of Coleen’s, who carried a bunch of flowers for the couple.

His father, also Wayne, and his mother Jeanette were among the well-wishers who left the hospital this afternoon.

Coleen’s mother Colette and brother Joe were also seen leaving the hospital.

The Rooneys’ spokesman said: "Mother and baby are both absolutely fine. Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life."

Rooney, 24, had been absent from training for his club Manchester United yesterday. He will now almost certainly be excused from playing for his side in their next fixture against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford tonight.

News that Coleen was pregnant emerged earlier this year although rumours had regularly circulated since the couple’s spectacular wedding on the Italian Riviera last summer.

Coleen is the eldest of four children to bricklayer dad Tony and nursery nurse mum Colette. Wayne is the eldest of three. Both have large extended families.
