Alan Johnson, 39, took more than £3,000 from the Royal’s disabled car park on Prescot Street, to help him pay off spiralling personal debts.
The father-of-two, from Cobham Avenue, Orrell Park, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to stealing £3,000 between April, 2006, and March, 2008, and admitted taking £332.40 on September 18, 2008.
He was given a 40 weeks’ jail sentence, suspended for two years, 250 hours of unpaid work and an 18- month supervision order.
