West Derby man among first to have new heart scan at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital

RAYMOND ALLEN, 55, from West Derby, is a father-of-three and soon to be a grandad.

The Service Manager for Copyright Digital Systems was found to have an irregular heart beat in December, 2004, and was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AF).

As he was not responding to drug treatment, he was listed for AF ablation.

His operation yesterday took two hours.

He said: “I'm really pleased with how the procedure went today. “From start to finish the team were really professional and made me feel at ease.

“I am really relieved.

“I was first diagnosed in 2004 after a routine medical, but I didn’t have an attack until last year.

“It is quite scary, you feel your heart going and get very anxious. Drugs didn’t work, so I agreed to have the procedure.

“It was under local anaesthetic and you can feel a bit of pain but hopefully that will be it now.

“I feel quite honoured to be one of the first to benefit from this technology.”

Dr Gupta said: “Raymond's procedure was very successful and he is recovering well.

“The actual procedure took two hours.”
