Liverpool actor David Morrissey returns home for directorial debut

BIG screen star David Morrissey spoke of his excitement at showing the film he directed in his home city.

The Liverpool actor has stepped behind the camera to make his first feature film, Don’t Worry About Me.

The Nowhere Boy star will also take part in a question and answer session after the screening at FACT.

The event, next Tuesday, is part of Clapperboard Presents, which is an initiative to raise cash for the Clapperboard Youth Project.

David, who is originally from Kensington, said: “It was my ambition to make films in the region, so I am very happy to be screening Don’t Worry About Me in Liverpool as a fundraising event for Clapperboard UK.Š

“There are great opportunities for film- makers on Merseyside. The inspirational work Clapperboard does with young people, helping them find a voice through the use of film, is fantastic.”

The film is based on the original stage play, The Pool, written by Helen Elizabeth and James Brough, who also star. They will join David, who has appeared in Captain Corelli's Mandolin and Dr Who, and answer questions after the screening.
