Everton FC Dave Hickson delight at Goodison honour

EVERTON FC have honoured football legend Dave Hickson.

To celebrate the 80th birthday of their former player, the club has named one of the exclusive lounges after him.

The Sponsors’ Lounge at Goodison Park will now be known as the ‘Dave Hickson Sponsors’ Lounge’ and was officially unveiled by chairman Bill Kenwright.

Kenwright said: “Dave Hickson epitomises everything in life you want to be; he is just an utter hero. As well as being the best centre forward I have ever seen he is my total idol.

Hickson said: “I am totally overwhelmed.”

Nicknamed the ‘Cannonball Kid’, Hickson was known for his flamboyant and ferocious performances during the 1950s.
