Autumn inspiration for our Flickr experts

AUTUMN has clamped down on Merseyside and the region’s photographers have made the most of the seasonal changes.

For many this is a grey, damp gloomy month that has neither Christmas to liven it, nor the promise of snow or coming spring to make it tolerable.

But several Merseyside photographers have made much of what the romantic poet John Keats characterised as the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

Richard Morrison, known to the Liverpool Daily Post’s Flickr users as The Old Brit, is one of a clutch who have submitted attractive depictions of the autumn season.

He said: “One of the many pleasures of living on Merseyside is the veritable plethora of picturesque public parks spread across our region.

“It's my belief that many of our beautiful public parks could quite easily be claimed to be little pieces of paradise in their own right.

“And what better time of year to pay your park a visit, than in autumn?

“Okay, to talk about enchanted forests and so on is admittedly going a bit over the top. However, when autumn's in the air, there's definitely magic abroad in our public parks.”

Derek Hymason popped along to Calderstones Park to get a chilly image of slanting light.

The image has been carefully worked using up-to-date digital processing software and the effort makes his shot a compelling view.

Greg’s One evokes a children’s literary classic.

The speckled light spilling over Victorian street lamps brings to mind Narnia where the half-human half-goat Mr Titmus makes his first appearance.

Other photographers have uploaded stunning firework shots over Liverpool’s landmarks and new takes on the maritime action that has swept along the Mersey recently.
