Days out at the races and the Echo Arena for top Liverpool council officials

COLIN Hilton has had 65 invitations since January 2007 and turned down only nine.Š He was invited to the Philharmonic on numerous occasions.

Last year, the North West Development Agency took him to the Grand National, and in May Enterprise plc took him to Haydock Races, where he said he secured £75,000 sponsorship for the 2010 World Expo stand.

He has also enjoyed hospitality from consultant Arup at Chester Races.

The vice-chancellor of John Moores University, Professor Michael Brown, took Mr Hilton and a guest to the recent Tom Jones concert at the Echo Arena.Š

Communities director Cath Green had a night stay in a hotel paid for by South Liverpool Housing for a Liverpool summit.

She said the housing association booked three places and as a result was able to take an additional person free of charge.

Since the start of last year, city treasurer Robert Corbett has had £574 worth of hospitality, although he paid £184 for some tickets.

He attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony and the Davis Cup at the Echo Arena, at the invitation of the Culture Company and the arena respectively.
