Liverpool Wavertree schoolchildren create model tree for NHS awards

SCHOOL children have created a tree with a difference as part of Liverpool’s Year of the Environment.

Pupils from Wavertree’s Lawrence Road primary school were asked to make the “TreeMendous Tree” for NHS Liverpool Community Health, as part of their commitment to green issues.

Frances Molloy, chairman of the organisation, and Cllr Berni Turner hung “pledge leaves” from the tree yesterday as it was handed over.

The tree – made from modelling material modroc – will take pride of place at the organisation’s staff awards tomorrow, which have a green focus.

Ms Molloy said: “We are committed to making environmentally-friendly choices wherever possible.

“We understand the challenges facing our environment, and realise the importance of doing all we can to limit the damage caused and to ensure it is protected for future generations.”
