Sean Connor, Emma Cartwight, Ceri Scullion, Alex Parry, James Bennett, Donna Rhodes and John Walsh celebrate after winning £45 million in Saturday's Euromillions jackpot, at Thornton Hough _300
They bought their ticket at Earle Road Newsagents, in Edge Hill, and had one of two lucky winning tickets for Friday’s whopping £91m draw.
The other ticket was bought by a married couple from South Wales.
Team leader Mr Bennett, who carried out internal IT work for BT, said: “We have all handed in our notices, but the idea is not to leave the company in the lurch, because it was really supportive.”
Mrs Scullion said she planned to make a donation to Alder Hey children’s hospital, where both her sons were treated when they were younger, including Jake, who was diagnosed with a hole in the heart when he was five.
She said: “I want to give money to Alder Hey because it was very good to my children – both had medical issues.
“They deserve a minibus or something because without them, my sons would not be here.”
Mrs Scullion said she fell off her chair in the beautician’s when she heard the news and was sure her late mother helped her win.
She added: “My mother passed away in February and she loved to do the lottery, so I am convinced she had something to do with me winning.
“It is sad I cannot share this with her, but if I had a choice, I would choose my mother over any amount of money.”
Miss Parry was the youngest member of the syndicate and only left the sixth form at Wallasey School last year.
She said her dream of going to university to study business could now become a reality after the burden of debt was taken away. The chance of winning the EuroMillions jackpot is one in 76 million. It is played across nine countries.
