Olivia Battye (18) from Thornton Hough, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and is doing a video diary on the internet about her experience _300
“Things like your hair falling out are really hard.
“But it shows how you can battle on and it puts things in perspective.
“It has made me more determined to follow my dreams now.”
The diary is featured on charity CLIC Sargent’s website.
Every six weeks, a professional film crew follows Olivia and records her experiences.
She has also met ex-prime minister Tony Blair’s wife, Crosby-born Cherie, as part of the project.
Her sister, Georgie, 28, will run the London Marathon next year along with her boyfriend, Ben, to raise funds for the charity.
Olivia added: “My family and friends have been amazing and have helped me through.
“It makes you realise how much people care.
“My mum, Angela, is really proud of me and I am very glad I agreed to do the diary.”
The next few months are now central to Olivia’s recovery, because she will find out if the chemotherapy was successful.
The treatment will also have an effect on her energy levels for up to a year afterwards.
