Attacked Liverpool policeman James Parkes back to work hopes

BATTERED trainee police officer James Parkes has vowed to be back at work in a matter of weeks.

It is believed that the 22-year-old, who was attacked on Stanley Street, Liverpool city centre, following a night out with his partner and friends last month, will be back at work after Christmas.

PC Parkes was targeted by a gang of up to 13 teenagers in a homophobic attack as he left a nightclub.

The trainee officer has just six weeks of training left before he starts a two-year probation period.

The attack means he won’t graduate with his class.

PC Parkes, who suffered multiple skull fractures, a fractured eye socket and a fracture cheekbone, said: “I would like to thank my partner Tom, my family, friends, colleagues and the gay community for the support they have given me over the last few weeks. I have been amazed at all of the good wishes.”
