Double boost for blooming Chester

CHESTER has won two top accolades in the North West in Bloom competition.

The city scooped the Greenall Whitley Trophy for Best Feature in a Public Place for the floral giant outside the library, funded by Chester Renaissance.

And, for the third consecutive year, Chester also won the Best in City category.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s culture and recreation executive member, Cllr Richard Short, said everyone who helped the city win these top awards worked extremely hard.

And environment executive member Neil Ritchie said: “The In Bloom 2009 Petal Power Theme was described as innovative by the RHS Britain in Bloom judges who suggested developing the theme further for next year’s competition.”
