Liverpool pupils meet Crosby screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce

HUNDREDS of Year 7 pupils from schools across Liverpool had the chance to meet author and screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce and author Cathy MacPhail at a special event at Liverpool Central Library.

The event was organised to celebrate Booked Up, the national programme that gives a free book to every Year 7 pupil in England. Cottrell Boyce’s book, Desirable, and MacPhail’s book, Underworld, were both selected to appear on the Booked Up list of 12 titles from which Year 7’s can select for free.

The aim of the programme is to encourage Year 7 pupils to continue reading for pleasure as they make the transition from primary to secondary school.

At the event, organised by charity The Windows Project, the children met the authors, heard them read extracts from their books, and asked them questions.
