SHOCKED neighbours yesterday paid tribute to a “local character” killed when a blaze tore through his Liverpool home.
A fierce fire broke out at about 4am on Saturday at Jo Woodruff’s Anfield home.
Smoke billowed out onto Harrow Road and the first floor of the terraced house collapsed.
Mr Woodruff, who friends said lived alone in the property, died in the blaze.
An inquiry was launched to determine the cause of the fire and investigators say they are keeping an open mind. Dawn Furning, who lives four doors away, said: “He was a lovely, kind man who really loved his dogs. They were his life. I’m in a state of shock.”
