Calday Grange Grammar School Alder Hey Imagine appeal 300
The Imagine Appeal at Alder Hay was set up with the backing of the widow of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, to help raise money to aid the research into the treatment of childhood cancers.
A spokesman for the school said: "To put it simply, Calday is a family and we are working as a community to support one of our own, and by doing this also helping many more, by raising money for children's cancer research at Alder Hey Hospital.
"We are having numerous events over the next two years. The first was a sports awards evening where guest speaker, former Liverpool player Jan Molby, came to school and inspired all present with his thoughts, words of wisdom and encouragement.
"The school also held a competition to design a logo, and this was won by year nine student James Quirk. We have cabaret evenings planned, cake sales etc. The idea being that each student and staff find a way to raise £375 each.
"We all want to do something to thank Alder Hey. We are looking for as much sponsorship as we can find. Our dream would be to raise £3.75million."
To start the fundraising, the school has organised a Christmas Market flight to Cologne, on Saturday, December 5, for £175, and needs 200 people to fill the flight – all profits to the fund.
