ENERGY company E.ON has launched an investigation after the bank details of 500 customers were wrongly sent to other people.
One letter sent to a woman in Coventry contained account numbers, sort codes, mobile phone details and the names and addresses of customers in Bradford and Nottingham.
The woman, who would not be named, said: “When I called E.ON, they said there had been a mix-up.
“All they knew was people’s bank details had been sent to the wrong people.”
A spokesman for E.ON said: “We discovered the error. It affects 500 customers. We immediately attempted to contact all customers and will continue to do so until we have spoken to everyone affected by this.”
