Whiston burns unit campaigners say thank you to after success of Liverpool Echo campaign

CAMPAIGNERS for Whiston and Alder Hey’s burns units have said a big thank you to the people who helped safeguard Merseyside’s specialist care.

The hospitals’ units were put at risk by a proposal to create a supra centre in Manchester.

But the ideas were dropped last week after campaigns launched by the local community and the Daily Post’s sister paper, the Liverpool Echo.

The Whiston Save Our Burns Units Steering Group has worked tirelessly during the last six months, collecting thousands of signatures and raising awareness.

Members visited Whiston Hospital yesterday with new “thank you” posters to show their appreciation for everyone who supported the campaign.
