Everton FC's Victor Anichebe hosts for the ECHO's Liverpool Unites charity in the Metquarter (GALLERY)

THE city’s Metquarter turned on the style with a fashion show for the ECHO’s Liverpool Unites charity – despite an injury-time loss from EFC player Phil Jagielka.

The injured Blues defender had hoped to hobble down the catwalk on crutches at the shopping centre’s annual event  tonight.

But the 26-year-old England international was forced to pull out because of his knee injury.

However, his team mate Victor Anichebe did step up at the last minute to do the prize draw.

Jennina O’Neill, marketing manger of Metquarter, said: "Phil was really excited about being involved in the fashion show, especially as the event was backing the ECHO’s Liverpool Unites charity.

"But with only 24 hours to go we were told his recovery period from the operation had worsened and he was under doctors orders to stay at home."

Guests to the event were greeted by stilt walkers and enjoyed a catwalk show, pampering, music, cocktail classes and wine tasting.

The fashion show featured the Metquarter’s latest styles and included coats and tailoring, lingerie, red carpet glamour and children’s fashion.
