Burscough FC win the FA Trophy final in 2003 300
Supporters are eager for auditors to pour over the books to determine an accurate account of its finances as they try to line up an 11th-hour investor.
In the meantime, the supporters’ club – which has already ploughed £20,000 into Burscough since forming five years ago – has set up a fundraising “100 Club”.
Fans aim to find 100 donors to pledge a recommended £10 a week to cover operational costs at Victoria Park.
Mr Aindow said: “This is a community club and now we are hoping for the community to back the club and show their support for Andy Gray and his players, who throughout these difficult times have continued to represent the club superbly.
“The supporters are determined to ensure Burscough FC survives and returns to the centre of the community.”
A club spokesman said it had not received the supporters’ club’s comments and was not willing to discuss their comments at this stage.
He added: “We would welcome a constructive and civilised dialogue with all members of the supporters’ club and other interested parties as to the best way forward for the club.”
Burscough currently stand in 14th place in the Unibond Premier League, three divisions below the Football League. They failed to reach the first round of the FA Cup.
