Southport woman facing child sex charges

A MERSEYSIDE woman was last night charged with child sex offences.

The 43-year-old, from Southport, is due in Bootle Magistrates’ Court today.

She was arrested in a swoop by Merseyside Police on Tuesday after they received a tip-off from officers in Manchester. The information is thought to link the woman with Norris Green paedophile Colin Blanchard.

Blanchard pleaded guilty alongside Plymouth nursery worker Vanessa George and Nottingham-based Angela Allen to a string of sickening child sex charges in October.

A former Knowsley College worker, Blanchard admitted 17 child pornography counts and two sexual assaults on children.

Blanchard, George and Allen’s paedophile triangle centred around horrifying images of children George took of youngsters – some barely a year old – at Little Ted’s Day Nursery, in Plymouth. But it is understood the woman, while linked to Blanchard, is not accused of being involved in the Little Ted’s abuse and is not connected to George or Allen.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: “A 43-year-old woman from Southport has been charged with a number of offences relating to possessing and making indecent images of a child and sexual activity with a child.”
