THOUSANDS of people are expected to turn out to an anti-homophobia march this weekend.
The peaceful protest was arranged in the wake of an assault on PC James Parkes on October 25.
PC Parkes had been drinking with his partner, Tom Downey, and a friend in Superstar Boudoir, on Stanley Street, Liverpool city centre, when he was attacked by a gang of up to 20 youths.
The march on Sunday will start at 1pm on St George’s plateau and head towards The Strand, before ending at the new Picket, on Jamaica Street.
Organiser Emma Stewart said: “We are making a stand against homophobic attacks in the city.
“It is a peaceful protest and we’re hoping to raise money for victim support charities, too.
“I hope everyone comes down to support us.”
The official after- party will be held at Garlands from 8pm.
