Liverpool visitors take their turn as Big Wheel opens for festive business

THE big wheel at Liverpool One is now open to the public.

With stunning views taking in every major Liverpool landmark and stretching as far as North Wales, it’s a ride that visitors have said is not to be missed.

The wheel stands a staggering 82m above sea level and weighs more than 450 tonnes.

Each trip on one of the 40 gondolas lasts 13 minutes, completing three revolutions.

The massive structure is built on top of the five- storey car park which serves the Liverpool One complex.

To make the wheel safe, 100 tonnes of steel had to be laid down to reinforce the pillars holding up the car park.

Tickets for the ride cost £6.

A second big wheel is scheduled to be sited next to ACC Liverpool next February.
