LDP Legal: City lawyer David Taylor won a hefty reduction in his client’s jail sentence

CITY lawyer David Taylor won a hefty reduction in his client’s jail sentence last week.

Mr Taylor represented James Ware, who pleaded guilty to being part of a £500,000 drug conspiracy in February. The following month, he was sentenced to four years in jail.

But Ware’s basis of plea was that he was only involved for one day of the conspiracy and only helped move a small amount of the drugs from Kent to the North West.

Last week, Mr Taylor successfully argued this was not taken into proper account by the original judge.

Ware, of Heathy Lane, Ormskirk, will now serve three years instead of four.

Mr Taylor, of the David Taylor Partnership, said the appeal confirms that if a sentencing judge does not express concerns with a written basis of plea, he or she must pass a sentence in accordance with that plea.
