THE very first Mankey Monkey has landed in Liverpool – and will be making its home in the Daily Post’s building.
The Liver Monkey is one of nearly 100 statues which will arrive and settle in business premises across the city as part of a charity public art event to raise money for Alder Hey children’s hospital. It is the brainchild of artist David Hallangen-Lake and his wife, Eirin, who have pulled together the massive project in just a few weeks.
The Liver Monkey is currently on display at Mankey Monkey HQ – the “Bling Bling Building” in Hanover Street – but will come to the Daily Post’s building in the near future when a “monkey map”, which will show the statues’ locations around the city, will be ready.
Passers-by can take a look through the windows of the HQ and see the monkeys take shape, ahead of the official launch early next month.
