Teenager appears in court charged with the murder of St Helens 15-year-old John Marsh

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a Merseyside teenager.

John Marsh, 15, died in hospital on Saturday night, after being attacked outside a house in Hempstead Close, Thatto Heath, St Helens, at 11.40pm.

Friends described the youngster as a “legend” and set up a website in his memory.

The 17-year-old, from the Thatto Heath area, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody until December 1.

He will appear before St Helens Youth Court on that date.

A committal date was also fixed for Liverpool Crown Court on January 4, 2010.

A 44-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder and perverting the course of justice was released on police bail yesterday, pending further inquiries.
