A CAMPAIGN to boost Britain’s pubs was launched in a bid to halt a wave of closures, now running at 50 a week.
The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) and the Society of Independent Brewers (Siba) called on drinkers, publicans and politicians to do more to keep pubs open.
An opinion poll of 1,000 adults showed that most believed the tax on beer was too high and agreed that the closure of so many pubs was undermining an important part of the country’s social and community fabric.
The trade groups joined forces to launch the I’m Backing The Pub campaign and publish a manifesto.
