Family pay tribute after St Helens teenager fatally stabbed

THE heartbroken parents of a 15-year-old boy stabbed to death yesterday paid tribute to their son, who “always made them laugh”.

John Marsh was knifed repeatedly in Hempstead Close, Thatto Heath, following an altercation on Saturday night.

A 17-year-old from Thatto Heath, was charged with his murder.

Mother and father John and Tracey, and stepfather, Steven, said: “John was a very loving and kind young man and he will be greatly missed by all of his family.

“He was very popular and had a lot of school friends in the Golborne area.

“He was fun to be around and he loved telling jokes and making us all laugh.

“John loved sport and when he was younger he won many accolades.

“He will be missed by all of his family, especially his nan, Auntie Debbie and her partner.”

The accused’s 44- year-old mother was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and released on police bail.
