LIVERPOOL is hosting the UK’s first National Mediation Competition, a prestigious event for law students from across the globe.
The two-day event, organised by John Moores University (LJMU), involves students from as far afield as California.
Taking place at Jury’s Inn Hotel, the competition will see 13 teams testing their mediating skills before highly reputable judges.
LJMU secured Liverpool as the venue for the competition after winning last year’s International Mediation Competition.
Senior lecturer, Ian Johnson, said: “Mediation is playing an increasingly important part in the settlement of disputes before they reach the courts, making skills in this area crucial for the success of future lawyers. LJMU is at the forefront of these developments.”
