A HOME from home for patients and their families has opened at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Royle Family star Sue Johnston officially opened The Mulberry Suite, the first unit of its kind in the city to offer support and round the clock care for terminally ill patients and their loved ones.
The unit was jointly funded by the hospital and the Department of Health.
Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine, Dr Leslie Allsopp, said: “The suite provides an environment that promoted well-being and provides patients and families with the comfort, dignity and privacy that they deserve during this important time.
“The theme we used was inspired by photographs taken by a patient who sadly died before this facility was available to her and her family.
