NATIONAL Tree Week is kicking off in Wirral at Birkenhead’s Bidston Moss Community Woodland.
The Forestry Commission is promoting the woodland’s paths, trails and fishing lakes during the week until December 6. National Tree Week is the UK's largest tree celebration aimed at encouraging residents to make use of their local forests and woodlands.
Bidston Moss, off Wallasey Bridge Road, is a £2.7m woodland covering 68-hectares of the area’s disused landfill sites. Tim Oliver, project manager, said: “Bidston Moss is just one of many new areas of woodland that have been created in Merseyside and other parts of the North- West over the last decade.”
