Sefton gets green light to overhaul high schools including Bootle's Savio and St Wilfred's

A MAJOR £80m makeover of Sefton’s secondary education is a step closer after winning government approval.

The makeover could include the creation of the borough’s first academy, replacing Bootle’s Savio Catholic High and Litherland’s St Wilfrid’s Catholic High, plus four new schools, two of them in Southport. It would also prompt the likely merger and closure of two more in Sefton.

The Government confirmed it was satisfied with the council’s proposals and gave it leave to now draw up detailed plans.
