A LIVERPOOL bar manager died after falling from the window of a 12th-floor hotel room in Bangkok.
Ian Nattrass, 34, of Devon Gardens, Childwall, died of multiple injuries after falling to his death in Thailand.
Liverpool Coroners Court heard Mr Nattrass fell from a significant height through the roof of a conference room in the early hours of January 9.
Staff at the hotel said they heard the sound of a heavy object falling and crashing down at what they thought to be around 12.24am.
Mr Nattrass was discovered lying near to a knife after the head of housekeeping noticed a hole in the roof.
Thai Police were called and a doctor found two superficial stab wounds to his chest which were not the cause of death.
The Thai police inspector found Mr Natrass’s room locked and examined CCTV which showed him leaving his room at 5.14am on 9 January wearing the same clothes he was later found in.
Mr Nattrass’s sister, Helen Miller, told the court her brother had spent Christmas in Thailand and was preparing to travel to Cambodia to start work in Phnom Penh.
Ms Miller said Mr Nattrass had tried to commit suicide 10 weeks prior to flying out to Bangkok while he was in Columbia, South America.
He had phoned her from a hospital after admitting himself into A&E after taking alcohol with tablets.
