Rolling Stones’ member Ronnie Wood arrested

ROLLING Stone Ronnie Wood was questioned by police yesterday over claims he assaulted his young Russian lover.

Wood, 62, was arrested in Esher, Surrey, by officers called to reports of an assault.

It is understood a passer-by dialled 999 as a violent argument allegedly took place between Wood and his 20-year-old on-off girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova. A Surrey Police spokesman said Wood was later released on bail until a date next month.

Wood left his wife, Jo, in 2008. The couple had been married for more than 20 years and their divorce will be finalised within weeks.

A spokesman for Wood said: “I can confirm that there was an incident last night and that Ronnie Wood was arrested. He has since been released on police bail.

“We have no further statement to make at this time.”
