Wirral Ness Gardens light up for festive celebration

THE lights were turned on at Wirral’s Ness Gardens last night as part of a special light show celebrating Liverpool’s Year of the Environment.

Solar-powered lights, bio-fuel generators and illuminated displays were officially turned on to light up the 64-acre award- winning gardens.

The IllimiNESS displays, which run until Sunday, December 13, also use audio and visual to project images from over 100 years of archive material of the gardens.

A three-metre high water curtain and dancing fountain are among the other highlights.

Kevin Reid, director of Ness Gardens, said: ”IllumiNESS promises to be a spectacular finale for the Year of the Environment celebrations and offers something for everyone to enjoy from stunning light displays, a luxury Christmas market and seasonal refreshments.”

Visitors can also stock up at the Christmas market offering the best of Cheshire and Wirral produce, as well as seasonal refreshments.

IllumiNESS is one of the flagship projects celebrating Liverpool’s Year of Environment aimed at making Liverpool green and sustainable and celebrating the global environment.

It runs from 5.30-9.30pm every night from Saturday, December 5 - Sunday, December 13.

TICKETS are only available in advance via the hotline on 0845 241 7868.

Tickets cost £12/£10/ £8, with a family ticket £38. Under-threes go free.
