Arrest after Liverpool Belle Vale residents report gunshots

A 24-YEAR-OLD from Netherley has been arrested after residents heard a series of gunshots.

Police attended Elmhurst Road, Belle Vale, at 4.10pm on Tuesday, after a series of calls from members of the public.

Witnesses reported seeing a black car, thought to be a Golf GTI, being driven erratically before colliding with a wall and then driving off.

Merseyside Police issued a witness appeal calling for anyone who had seen such a vehicle in the south Liverpool area to come forward, indicating that it would have sustained distinctive damage to its rear.

Police have now recovered a car thought to have been used during the incident.

The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Section One firearm and is being interviewed.
