Shock at continued ban on phone and email tap evidence

THE Law Society has criticised a decision not to end the blanket ban on phone tap evidence in criminal trials.

The decision was made by a body reviewing the ban on intercepted phone and email conversations.

Society President, Robert Heslett, said: “We are surprised and disappointed. We have long advocated that this evidence should be admissible to aid the prosecution of alleged serious offences, including terrorism.”
