Where there’s muck there’s charity cash

SCORES of competitors tried to cover themselves in glory at one of the world’s dirtiest sporting events.

More than 200 runners took part in the annual mud race at Maldon, Essex, yesterday.

Racers must cross the mouth of the River Blackwater at low tide – a distance of about 500 yards.

Organisers say the “Maldon Mud Race” raises thousands of pounds for charity.
