A MERSEYSIDE football team are asking for people to donate unwanted football boots as the club tries to help needy children in Africa.
Marine FC, in Crosby, is taking part in the Boots for Africa campaign, and aims to beat last year’s total of 505 pairs.
Barry Lenton, Marine FC’s community officer, said: “The target is to get more than we did last season. We have got until April 24.
“People who donate their unwanted boots should put their contact details in the boots and they will go into a draw for an Everton and Liverpool signed football.”
For the boots to be accepted, they have to be studded, have laces tied together and they must be clean. Countries which will benefit include Ghana, Ethiopia, Zambia and South Africa.
Boots can be handed in at Marine FC.
