Liverpool's flooded Beatle hotel to re–open for New Year’s Eve

Hard Days Night

A CITY centre hotel is working to be back in business in time for New Year’s Eve after a flood forced it to close.

The 110-bed Hard Day’s Night hotel was flooded on Monday as water leaked from a pipe into the basement plant room.

The fire brigade were in attendance for more than six hours as they waited for the electricity to be isolated so they could pump out the water.

The only damage to the building was in the basement, but the hotel is currently without electricity.

Many guests had been staying at the hotel to celebrate the festive period. They were offered alternative accommodation or to reschedule their stay at the Grade II listed building.

Management are planning to turn the electricity back on this afternoon to check there are no problems before the hotel reopens tomorrow.

General manager Mike Dewey said: "The hotel is currently closed while we work with the fire brigade to clean and get everything back on track.

"The timescale we are working on is that we will switch the electricity back on today and then the hotel will re-open on New Years Eve.

"We have set up a temporary office and are able to deal with any enquiries from people whose visit will be disrupted.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and will work with anyone whose booking has been affected individually to reschedule their visit.”

IF YOU are booked into the hotel tonight, call staff at the hotel on 0151 236 1964.
