WORK is now underway to display the two winners in the Daily Post’s Merseytravel environmental art competition.
As part of its public art programme, Merseytravel will display the winning entries – drawn by It’s Our World readers – in the underpass connecting the mainline Liverpool Lime Street Station with the Merseyrail underground network, to be seen by hundreds of thousands of passengers every year.
When we opened up the competition to readers, we were inundated.
We showed the best of the submitted entries in an online gallery, and there readers voted on their favourites.
Amy Morrison, 18, from Formby, won the 18 and under category with her politically inspired cartoon.
Chris Valentine, 46, from Anfield, won the over-18 award, again with a Liver Bird theme.
They have each won £250 cash, as well as free family passes to visitor attractions including The Mersey Ferries, The Beatles Story, Spaceport and The U-Boat Story.
Cllr Mark Dowd, Chair of Merseytravel, says: “I'd like to congratulate Chris Valentine and Amy Morrison on two fantastic entries.
“Both are worthy to grace the pages of the Liverpool Daily Post.
