West Lancashire schools GCSE results help county total - plus full league table

SCHOOLS across West Lancashire helped the region’s figures finish above the national average.

Across Lancashire as a whole, 53.5% of students got five or more A*-C grades, including maths and English, improving over 2% on 2008 figures.

The number of students getting five or more good A*-C grades also improved, from 71.6% in 2008 to 77.4% in 2009, moving well ahead of the national average of 70%.

Kingswood College Trust, Scarisbrick, was the best performing school, where 91% of its 23 students got five or more A*-C grades.

Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Language College, in Croston, also performed well, showing consistent year-on-year results.

Figures show 80% of pupils got five or more A*-C grades, including maths and English, which was the same number as in 2008. The school also showed a set of low figures for persistent student absence.
