AN ARSONIST who burnt down a city centre restaurant and then tried to pose as a hero will not be sentenced until March.
Alan Cashman set fire to Liverpool’s Spice City, leading to the frantic rescue of residents in flats above.
The 26-year-old then stayed at the scene of the blaze in Stanley Street for hours, pretending he tried to save the people inside.
Cashman, who has a history of starting fires, was due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday.
But his barrister, Sarah Holt, asked for the case to be adjourned so psychiatric reports could be completed.
Judge Mark Brown remanded Cashman, of Alfonso Road, Anfield, in custody until March 15 to await sentencing.
