Thousands in Wirral get stickers telling them they’re not recycling

MORE than 2,500 people in Wirral have had stickers warning them they are putting waste into the wrong bins.

In February, 2009, Wirral Council introduced two warning stickers – for “light contamination" and "heavy contamination" – which informs the resident their bin was not able to be emptied due to non-recyclable materials.

According to data released under the Freedom of Information Act, Biffa were issued with and used 2,500 "heavy contamination" stickers since February. They were issued a further 5,000 stickers in November.
