Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard set to join greats at Madame Tussauds

LIVERPOOL Football Club captain Steven Gerrard was named as the next sports personality to be admitted into the world famous Madame Tussauds' interactive Sports Zone.

The wax figure of the 29-year-old England midfielder will be revealed in early February this year.

Gerrard will be featured in his Liverpool kit, which was donated along with his football boots.

The Liverpool skipper attended a sitting with Madame Tussauds sculptors at Liverpool’s training ground in October last year, where the team took more than 300 precise measurements and a catalogue of reference photographs to work with.

The figure is near completion after four months of intense work at a cost of £150,000.

Commenting on his forthcoming inclusion at the London wax figures museum, Gerrard said: “It is an absolute thrill to have my own wax figure at Madame Tussauds.”

Gerrard will join sporting greats including Muhammad Ali and Jesse Owens.
